Soccer Trivia publishes facts that people then bet a trivia night on. These are the rules we hold ourselves to.
Everything carries a source
Every article and every question is written against a named source, and the source is listed on the page. Nothing is published from memory. Where sources disagree, we say so on the page rather than picking the version we prefer.
Everything carries two dates
Each entry shows the date it was last checked and the date it is due to be checked again. Records change. A fact that was correct in 2023 can be wrong by 2027, and a library that never re-checks itself becomes a collection of confidently stated errors.
Questions must stand alone
A question read aloud at an event has no article beside it. Every question names its year, its competition, and its teams or its person. If it cannot be understood without the article, it is not finished.
Sponsors do not touch the words
No partner can place, alter or veto a question or an article. Paid placement is labelled as paid placement everywhere it appears, and sponsored links are marked. If we ever write about a partner, we say that they are a partner in the piece.
We separate what we know from what is claimed
Some famous football statistics are not verifiable — career goal totals from eras with poor record-keeping, attendances at grounds without turnstile counts. Where a number is a claim rather than a record, the article says so, and we do not build questions on it.
We correct in public
When we get something wrong we fix it and say so. See corrections.
